CAREER SUMMARY
Kirk Eriksen, D.C. is licensed in Alabama and Georgia and has been in private practice since 1991. He is the vice president of the Society of Chiropractic Orthospinology, which teaches and certifies doctors in the Grostic Procedure of precision spinal care. Dr. Eriksen is on the postgraduate faculty of Life University and is on the editorial review board for the Journal of Vertebral Subluxation Research and Chiropractic Research Journal. He is also on the faculty of Northwestern Health Sciences University where he teaches the Orthospinology procedure on a part-time basis. Dr. Eriksen has been appointed to the College of the Upper Cervical Spine, a five-member board responsible for developing a curriculum and administering tests for a 300-hour Diplomate of the Upper Cervical Spine postgraduate program. In 1997, Dr. Eriksen was awarded “Chiropractor of the Year” by the Alabama Chiropractic Council (ACC). The Society of Chiropractic Orthospinology awarded him this same prestigious distinction in 2004. In 2006, the World Chiropractic Alliance designated him "Researcher of the Year." He is a renowned lecturer and has taught around the world on various topics. He has published several research studies, and in 2004, he authored the landmark text, Upper Cervical Subluxation Complex, A Review of the Chiropractic and Medical Literature. The prestigious Lippincott Williams & Wilkins also published his latest textbook, Orthospinology Procedures: An Evidence-Based to Spinal Care, in 2007.
EDUCATION
After using his academic scholarship to complete his pre-chiropractic undergraduate studies, Dr. Eriksen received his Doctor of Chiropractic degree. This was obtained from Life College School of Chiropractic, after four additional academic years of study. He has also completed a 120-hour certification in physical therapy/rehabilitation.
In 1994 Dr. Eriksen received Board certification from the Society of Chiropractic Orthospinology, after passing stringent tests in X-ray proficiency and spinal correction. Dr. Eriksen has also attained Certification in Chiropractic Spinal Trauma (CCST). This year-long postgraduate certification involved advanced course-work in spinal trauma, neurology, radiology, electrodiagnostics, injury mechanism physics, case management and med-legal aspects.
