Our practice was founded in Dothan in 1992. The practice was originally called Eriksen Chiropractic Center until we moved into a new facility in 1997. The new office is located at 2500 Flowers Chapel Road. The name, Chiropractic Health Institute, P.C., better represents the fact that since 1994 our practice has been: a multi-doctor clinic until recently Taught seminars in Dothan and across the U.S. to chiropractors and other professionals We have progressively added more of the latest technology to assess and correct our patients’ spinal distortions We focus on optimizing our patients health as oppose to short term pain relief We have patients that travel 2 hours or longer from the north, south, east and west of our Dothan location. Why do patients travel such long distances to seek our care? We would like to first point out that our doctors make it a point not to denigrate our colleagues as well as other health professionals. In fact, we work in cooperation with a number of health care professionals in the Dothan area. However, there are many patients that have a preference for the specific, low force upper cervical technique that we utilize. This is also supported by the preliminary data from a study that Dr. Eriksen is conducting. The results show that 90% of the doctors that utilize this type of upper cervical technique have anywhere from 1-25% of their patients traveling either out of state or over 100 miles one way to see their doctor. Patients do not usually mind to travel as long as their adjustment stays in place for as long as possible. Dr. Eriksen does not typically see patients 2-3 times per week for long periods of time. The average patient is seen 3 times the first week and 2 times per week for one to two weeks and then the visits are spread out from that point. The doctor re-evaluates his patients after about 3-4 weeks of care with the goal of having the patient be able to go several weeks to a few months between their visits while not losing any stability with their spinal condition. Keep in mind, that this can vary from patient to patient. While some patients may require more or less care than others, a care plan is primarily based on the patient’s objective needs.
